Welcome to Most Holy Rosary Elementary School!
Founded in 1915, Most Holy Rosary Elementary School (MHR) has served Syracuse families for more than 100 years with a mission grounded in faith, academic excellence, and character formation. As one of the only remaining Catholic elementary school in the city, MHR continues to provide a strong, values-based education that prepares children not only for academic success, but for lives of service and leadership.

Leadership & Community
Principal Sherri Stone leads MHR with a dedication to faith, partnership, and educational excellence. Her focus on creating a supportive school environment—where students are known, families are welcomed, and teachers are empowered—continues to strengthen MHR’s role in the Strathmore community.
Students learn the importance of service by volunteering with local charities and organizations such as Sarah’s Guest House, the Brady Faith Center, and others throughout the year.
MHR also builds strong community pride through partnerships with Syracuse University, the Syracuse Mets, and the Syracuse Crunch, giving students meaningful opportunities to connect with the wider Syracuse community. Beloved traditions like the Taste of Strathmore and consistent family involvement further reflect the close-knit spirit that defines MHR.
Academic Excellence With Personal Attention
MHR serves students from Pre-K 3 through 6th grade, offering small class sizes, individualized instruction, and a well-rounded curriculum that includes art, music, drama, physical education, and technology. Guided by the legacy of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, our approach nurtures the spiritual, emotional, and intellectual growth of every child. This commitment to hands-on, minds-on learning has earned MHR features on Ted & Amy’s 93Q Morning Show and Syracuse-area news outlets.

Alumni Connections
Generations of alumni carry MHR’s values into their lives and communities. We invite all graduates to complete the Alumni Information Form to stay connected, share updates, and help support the next generation of Heightsmen.
